Today at Ancona shipyard there was the launch of the “Silver Spirit”, the first luxury cruise ship ordered from Fincantieri by Silversea Group, one of the leading players in luxury cruises. The launch marks Fincantieri’s entry into the market sector for medium-size luxury ships.
With the construction of this vessel, due to enter service at the end of the year, Ancona shipyard becomes the fourth Fincantieri yard devoted to building this type of ship, alongside Monfalcone, Marghera and Genoa-Sestri Ponente.

Present at the ceremony were, Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio and Amerigo Perasso, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Silversea respectively, and, representing Fincantieri the Chairman, Corrado Antonini and the Chief Executive Officer, Giuseppe Bono. Godmother to the ship was Mrs. Silvia Lefebvre d’Ovidio, the owner’s sister.

195 metres long and with a gross tonnage of 36,000 tonnes, the new ship will be able to accommodate, in her 270 cabins and 34 suites, over 540 passengers who will be attended by a crew of 378. Virtually all the passenger cabins will have a sea view and a spacious private veranda in addition to a light, airy living area provided with every comfort.
In order to meet the high expectations of European guests, great attention will be devoted to the interior decor and choice of materials. The “Silver Spirit” will provide a wide range of amenities on board – from a gym to a casinò, theatre and boutiques. Her grace and style will recall large luxury yachts.

Following the “Silver Spirit”, Ancona shipyard will be engaged in the construction of a further two luxury ships. Fincantieri will thus further consolidate its specialisation in the sector of small and medium luxury ships, renewing its efforts to seek out cutting edge design solutions,.
