UAE NAVY SIGNS A NEW CONTRACT
Fincantieri, on the occasion of the visit of the Minister of Economic Development - Paolo Romani - to the United Arab Emirates, has signed a new contract within the framework of the program currently in progress with the UAE Navy. The new contract covers further activities related to qualifying and testing the integrated vessel with both surface and underwater weapon systems.

“PLASMARE”: FINCANTIERI DESIGNS FLOATING PLATFORMS FOR THE TREATMENT AND CONVERSION OF SOLID MUNICIPAL WASTE
Today, at the Faculty of Economy of the University of Naples, Federico II, there was the presentation of “Plasmare”, a project to construct sea-borne plant for the treatment of solid municipal waste. The project has been conceived and promoted by Fincantieri through its centre for applied research Cetena (Centre for Advanced Studies into Naval Technologies).

At 134 metres long, the MY “Serene”, is one of the ten largest yachts ever built in the world...

ORDERS RESUMED AT FINCANTIERI: COSTA CRUISES ORDERS A NEW SHIP, THE 10TH SHIP IN THE PAST 10 YEARS.
With a gross tonnage of 132,500, 4,928 total Guests and 1,854 cabins, she will be the largest Italian cruise ship. She will be built by Fincantieri at Marghera shipyards and will be delivered in October 2014.

THE FIRST MULTIPURPOSE FRIGATE LAUNCHED: THE “CARLO BERGAMINI”
Italo-French Fremm program continues

Today Riva Trigoso (Genoa) shipyard celebrated the launch of the frigate “Carlo Bergamini”, the first of a series of Fremm vessels - Multi Mission European Frigates, ordered from Fincantieri by the Italian Navy within the framework of an Italo-French program of cooperation.
Godmother to the ship was Mrs Maria Bergamini Loedler, granddaughter of Admiral Carlo Bergamini. The frigate was named in honour of Admiral of the Fleet, Carlo Bergamini, who was decorated for military valour after the sinking of his battleship, the Roma, on 8th September 1943.

Built by Fincantieri in Marghera, with a total investment of € 510 million, the new flagship will be named in Trieste on 2nd July. The first cruise will depart on 4th July from Venice.

FINCANTIERI GAINS ORDER FOR SHIP FOR P&O CRUISES
Fincantieri has gained an order from the US cruise operator Carnival to build a cruise ship of 141,000 gross tonnes due to serve the British brand P&O Cruises.
Scheduled to enter service in March 2015, the ship will have a maximum passenger capacity of 3,611 and is set to be the flagship of P&O Cruises fleet, as well as being the largest to be built for the British market.

FINCANTIERI: FY 2010 RESULTS APPROVED, CONFIRMING A PROFIT FROM ORDINARY OPERATIONS AND THE GROUP’S FINANCIAL SOLIDITY
• Order intake climbs to euro 1,912 million, despite very tough shipbuilding industry conditions, taking the order portfolio to euro 8,888 million;
• Revenues slip to euro 2,876 million reflecting less production activity;
• EBITDA is euro 179 million and EBITDA margin 6.2%;
• Profit from ordinary operations is euro 53 million but the net result for the year is a loss of euro 124 million, reflecting non-recurring and extraordinary expenses due to reduction in the order backlog, price pressure on new orders resulting from significant growth in competition, and various provisions for risks relating to non-recurring events;
• Net financial position is a positive euro 100 million, a major improvement on 2009 (negative euro 151 million).

FINCANTIERI WINS CONTRACT TO BUILD 2 SHIPS FOR TIDEWATER
Fincantieri has been awarded a contract to build two PSV vessels by Tidewater, the world’s largest provider of marine support services for offshore industries.
The ships, the first scheduled for delivery before the end of 2012 and the second within mid 2013, will be built at Sturgeon Bay shipyard (Wisconsin, USA), which is owned by Fincantieri Marine Group, a company in Fincantieri Group.

THE FIRST FLEET TANKER FOR THE INDIAN NAVY DELIVERED IN MUMBAY
Today in Mumbay there was the commissioning ceremony for the “Deepak”, the first of two fleet tankers ordered from Fincantieri by the Indian Navy.
Present at the ceremony were A.K. Antony, the Indian Minister of the Defence, Admiral Nirmal Varma, Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, and Corrado Antonini, Chairman of Fincantieri. The order is the first surface vessel India has ordered from a European company, gained in competition against prominent international players, in particular from Russia and Korea.
