FINCANTIERI WINS 4 BILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT TO BUILD 10 SHIPS FOR THE US NAVY

Fincantieri, in partnership with Lockheed Martin, number one in the Defense sector, has gained a contract for the construction of 10 Littoral Combat Ships.
The first vessel is worth 437 million dollars and the remaining nine ships will be purchased by a number of options to be exercised by the US Navy within 2015, taking the total value of the contract to over 4 billion dollars. The LCS program provides for the construction of a total of 55 ships within 2020, for a value of over 20 billion dollars.

FINCANTIERI: WORK STARTS ON FIRST OF TWO STEALTH VESSELS FOR UAE NAVY
Today at Muggiano shipyard (La Spezia) there was the traditional sheet cutting ceremony marking the commencement of construction of the first of two “Falaj 2” stealth vessels which have been ordered from Fincantieri by the United Arab Emirates Navy.
Signed at the beginning of the year the contract includes an option for the Emirate Navy to order a further two sister ships, in addition to the transfer of Fincantieri technology to a local shipyard.
Delivery of the vessel is scheduled in the second half of 2012.

“SHAKTI” FOR INDIAN NAVY LAUNCHED AT SESTRI PONENTE (GENOVA)
Today at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Sestri Ponente (Genova) there was the launching of the second of two fleet tankers ordered by the Indian Navy, with delivery scheduled by the end of the next year. Present at the ceremony were Debabrata Saha, ambassador for the Republic of India in Italy and Alberto Maestrini, head of Fincantieri Naval Vessels Business Unit. First announced at Euronaval in 2008, the order is the first surface vessel India has ever made to a European company and followed a selection procedure with strong international competitors, especially from Russia and Korea.

THE “QUEEN ELIZABETH”, THE NEW QUEEN OF THE SEAS, DELIVERED IN MONFALCONE
Today at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Monfalcone there was the delivery of the “Queen Elizabeth”, the new flagship of Cunard Line, Carnival Group, the world’s leading cruise operator. Following the “Queen Victoria”, built in Marghera in 2007, the “Queen Elizabeth”, voted “ship of the year”, is the first vessel Monfalcone shipyard has built for Cunard and the second "Queen" Fincantieri has delivered to the prestigious British brand.
Cunard Line, which was founded in 840, is an icon of British tradition and classical style: over 170 years of seafaring and a glorious record of transatlantic service with liners which have made maritime history.

FINCANTIERI: FIRST HALF YEAR OPERATING RESULTS POSITIVE DESPITE MARKET CRISIS
• New orders amounting to € 1,492 million (compared to € 398 million in the first half 2009) reflect a slight recovery in the cruise sector although the situation of the ferry sector remains negative;
• At € 9.9 billion the order book, albeit ensuring a substantial work load, does not saturate the production capacity of the Group’s shipyards, with consequent recourse to temporary staff lay-offs (i.e. Cassa Integrazione Guadagni) both for this year and in the years to follow;
• EBITDA, at € 56 million, shows a significant contribution from the Group’s US companies (EBITDA of € 17 million);
• Result of ordinary operations is positive by € 3 million pre non-recurring and extraordinary expenses.

FINCANTIERI LAUNCHES THE “SERENE”, 134 METRE YACHT
The largest yacht ever built in Italy and one of the ten largest in the world
Fincantieri is pleased to announce the launch of the first mega yacht to which is putting the finishing touches at their Muggiano (La Spezia) shipyard for a private foreign owner. When she is delivered at the end of the year, the 134-metre “Serene” will be one of the ten largest yachts ever built in the world and one of the finest in terms of sophistication and technology.

FINCANTIERI: WORK STARTS ON THE “VICTORY”, 140-METRE MEGA YACHT
Today, at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Muggiano (La Spezia), work commenced on the construction of the mega yacht ordered from Fincantieri at the end of last year. At 140 metres long, Hull No. 6218, the project “Victory”, to the best of our knowledge, is the first mega yacht over 100 metres ordered since the onset of the financial crisis in October 2008.

FINCANTIERI GAINS ORDER FOR TWO SHIPS FOR PRINCESS CRUISES

Fincantieri and the US cruise group Carnival Corporation & plc announced today an order to build two prototype ships for Princess Cruises brand.
The contract confirms a memorandum of understanding signed in February. At 141,000 gross tonnes, the two new vessels, which have a maximum passenger capacity of 3,600, will be the largest cruise ships ever built by Fincantieri and the flagships of Princess Cruises fleet. Scheduled for delivery in spring 2013 and 2014, these ships, as prototypes, will be two of the most exclusive and innovative in the world. Although the design incorporates a number of features which have contributed to the success of the Fincantieri’s most recent vessels, an in-depth review has been carried out in order to develop a ship of superior quality.

FINCANTIERI AND BOEING STRENGTHEN THEIR TEAM IN BID FOR US NAVY HOVERCRAFT
Marinette Marine Corporation (MMC), Fincantieri’s US subsidiary, and Boeing have announced that Oceaneering International are to enter the team set up a year ago with a view to competing for the imminent tender for the “Ship-to-Shore Connector” (SSC) program which provides for the construction of 80 new generation hovercraft for the US Navy.

FINCANTIERI AWARDED TWO CONTRACTS WORTH OVER 130M IN THE USA
A research vessel and 30 boats for the Coast Guard

Marinette Marine Corporation (MMC), Fincantieri’s American subsidiary, has been awarded two orders in the USA worth over 130 million dollars: a 73 million contract from the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) for a Fisheries Survey Vessel (FSV) and a 63 million contract for 30 boats for the US Coast Guard.

“L’AUSTRAL” LAUNCHED IN ANCONA SUPER LUXURY SHIP FOR COMPAGNIE DU PONANT
Today at Ancona shipyard there was the launch of “L’Austral”, the first of two super luxury cruise ships ordered from Fincantieri by the French Owner Compagnie du Ponant. Due to take up service in autumn 2010, in terms of size and sophisticated décor in many respects the ship is very similar to a mega yacht.
“L’Austral” is the sister ship of “Le Boreal”, which will be presented soon always at Ancona shipyard. The two ships are destined to became the fleet’s new flagships.

EC AND BESST CONSORTIUM SIGN CONTRACT FOR RESEARCH PROJECT

Europe’s leading shipbuilders, coordinated by Fincantieri, started September 1st, 2009 the EU funded research project BESST – “Breakthrough in European Ship and Shipbuilding Technologies”. The contractual Grant Agreement was signed yesterday in Brussels between the European Commission and Fincantieri, on behalf of the consortium, as the coordinator of BESST.

FINCANTIERI ANNOUNCES A NEW ORDER DURING A MISSION IN THE USA
The Company will build an oceanographic vessel for Alaska

During a mission in the United States, Fincantieri has announced that the company has gained a new order. In fact Marinette Marine Corporation, Fincantieri’s American subsidiary, will build an oceanographic research vessel capable of working in icy arctic waters (Alaska Region Research Vessel – ARRV) for the University of Fairbanks, Alaska. The vessel, which will be built at Marinette Marine shipyard in Wisconsin, is worth over 120 million dollars.

BNL, Ifitalia and Fincantieri sign an agreement for reverse factoring to increase liquidity of Fincantieri suppliers
BNL will provide the firms involved with further credit facilities for commercial guarantees and advance payments on contracts
Rome/Trieste, 9 March 2010. BNL-Group BNP Paribas, Ifitalia and Fincantieri have signed a reverse factoring agreement which enables firms working with Fincantieri to unfreeze credit and draw on additional liquidity.

Today at Fincantieri’s shipyard at Sestri Ponente (Genoa), there was the launch of “Marina”, the first ultra luxury cruise ship which Fincantieri is building for the US shipowner Oceania, scheduled for delivery at the end of 2010. At the same time as the launch there was also the cutting of the first sheeting of the second sister ship, whose first section will be built initially at the shipyard of Castellammare di Stabia.

Fincantieri – Cantieri Navali Italiani S.p.A., Eurofactor Italia S.p.A. (Crédit Agricole Group)) and Banca Popolare FriulAdria S.p.A. (Cariparma Crédit Agricole Group), both companies of Crédit Agricole Group, signed an agreement both to facilitate and reduce the cost of access to credit for suppliers to the shipbuilding group - the world’s leading builder of cruise ships.

FINCANTIERI TO BUILD TWO PROTOTYPE SHIPS FOR PRINCESS CRUISES
Fincantieri and the US cruise group Carnival Corporation & plc have reached an agreement to build two prototype ships for Princess Cruises.
The agreement is subject to the execution of a definitive contract, financing and other customary closing conditions.
At 139,000 gross tonnes and with a passenger capacity of 3,600, the new ships will take up service in Spring 2013 and 2014 and will be the largest built to date for Princess Cruises fleet.

As of February, 8th 2010 Fred P. Moosally will take office as President and Chief Executive Office of Fincantieri Marine Group (FMG), a subsidiary of Fincantieri-Cantieri Navali Italiani S.p.A. .

FINCANTIERI: UNITED ARAB EMIRATES NAVY ORDERS TWO STEALTH VESSELS
Fincantieri has gained a further important new order from the United Arab Emirates Navy for the construction of two stealth vessels, “Falaj 2”. The contract includes an option for a further two sister ships for the UAE Navy and technology transfer from the Company to a local shipyard.
Two of the four vessels will be built at the Group’s Italian shipyards, with delivery scheduled in the second half of 2012.

LAUNCH OF THE “QUEEN ELIZABETH”: THE SHIP OF THE YEAR
Today, at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Monfalcone, there was the technical launch of the liner “Queen Elizabeth”, which will be delivered next autumn to Cunard Line, a brand of the Carnival Group. Following the “Queen Victoria”, delivered in Marghera in 2007, the “Queen Elizabeth” - which has been called by many “the ship of the year” – is the first unit built by the Monfalcone shipyard for Cunard, as well as the second “Queen” to be delivered by Fincantieri to the famous British brand.
Cunard Line is the symbol of British tradition and classical style, with a long history dating back to 1840. This year the company is celebrating its 170° anniversary and can boast a glorious tradition with some ocean liners that will last in our collective imagination.
