START-UP OF “VISION”, THE FIRST ENVIROMENTALLY FRIENDLY WATERBUS
Today, at the headquarters of Confindustria Venice, there was the presentation of the Vision project - Venetian waterbus Innovated with hybrid hydrogen, photovoltaic and accumulation fuel cell System of energy generation, azimuth electric propulSION, for reduced environmental impact and improved passenger comfort. The project sets out to build a prototype of an environmentally friendly waterbus.

FINCANTIERI TO UPGRADE TWO VESSELS FOR KENYA NAVY
On the occasion of the international exhibition Euronaval - the most important trade fair for the defence industries currently in progress in Paris-Le Bourget – Fincantieri has announced that the company has gained an order from the Ministry of the Defence of Kenya to carry out “mid-life” refitting of two of the Navy’s vessels, the “Nyayo” and the “Umoja”.

An Anglo-Italian Alliance has been formed to pursue a major UK Naval auxiliary shipbuilding contract.
At the opening day of the Euronaval Exhibition in Paris a major Alliance was announced between Italian shipbuilding giant Fincantieri, and UK Shiprepair, conversion and military support specialist NSL.

“CARNIVAL DREAM”, THE BIGGEST CRUISE SHIP EVER BUILT BY FINCANTIERI, LAUNCHED IN MONFALCONE TODAY
“Carnival Dream”, the biggest passenger ship ever built by Fincantieri and in Italy, was launched in Monfalcone today: it will be flagship of Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet, a brand of Carnival Group, the main operator in the global cruise ship sector. Delivery is scheduled for Fall 2009.

FINCANTIERI: FIRST HALF 2008 CONSOLIDATED RESULTS SHOW A POSITIVE TREND OF THE GROUP DESPITE THE ADVERSE AND RADICALLY CHANGED MARKET SITUATION. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS EXPRESS HIS SYMPATHY AND SUPPORT TO THE FAMILY OF THE WORKER DIED IN AN INCIDENT OCCURRED AT MONFALCONE YARD.
• Revenues increased comparing to first half of 2007 (+9%).
• Operating Result (EBIT) amounted to 40 Euro/million.
• Net Income equal to 15,1 Euro/million which is still affected by the residual consequences of the negative Euro/dollar exchange rate and by the increase in raw material costs, in particular steel and oil.

The contract for the construction in Italy of a ship for the transport of toxic radioactive waste was signed in Moscow in the presence of Minister Scajola
During the meeting held in Moscow today between Italy’s Minister for the Economic Development Claudio Scajola and Sergey Kiriyenco, General Director of Rosatom, the Russian Body for Atomic Energy, Fincantieri signed a contract for the construction, at its Liguria yards, of a ship conceived for the transport of irradiated fuel and radioactive waste deriving from the dismantling of Russian nuclear submarines.

SHAREHOLDERS APPROVE 2007 FINANCIAL STATEMENT AND PAY DIVIDEND
Increase in Value of Production (+8.4%) – Order book at record level (12 billion Euro)
Meeting today in Trieste, Fincantieri’s Shareholders have approved the financial statement for the year ending 31st December 2007, which was examined by the Board of Directors last March 28th. For the fourth successive year the Shareholders approved distribution of a dividend of 10.1 million Euros, equivalent to 3% of share capital.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPROVED 2007 ANNUAL RESULTS CONFIRMING THE POSITIVE PERFORMANCE OF THE GROUP IN LINE WITH THE BUSINESS PLAN.
• Value of Production (+8.4%) Gross Operating Margin (+15,2%).
• Net income of 45 million Euro substantially in line with 2006 (with a net income before income tax expense equal to 78 million Euro), notwithstanding the extraordinary negative trend of Euro/Usd exchange rate which adversely affected net income by approximately 50 Euro million.

SILVERSEA
Today at Ancona shipyard there was the ceremony to mark the cutting of the first sheeting of the new super-luxury cruise ship which Fincantieri is building for the Italian owner SilverSea. The event marks the official commencement of construction work.
